Medical scheme changes
Bonitas and Discovery have made changes to their contributions and benefits for 2026. Read a summary of the contribution and benefit changes below.
Bonitas
Bonitas announced an average contribution increase of 8.8% effective from 1 January 2026. Increases per plan range from 6.9% to 11.3%

Discovery Health announced an average contribution increase of 7.2% effective 1 April 2026. Increases per plan range from 0.0% to 7.9%

Gap changes
KaeloGap has made some adjustments to their benefits and rates for 2026.
The Kaelo Gap Optima contribution will increase from R302 per family per month to R324 per family per month effective from 1 January 2026, which represents an increase of 7.3%.
Key benefit changes include:
- Casualty child benefit increased to R3 300 per event
- Casualty emergency benefit increased to R2 600 per event
Primary care changes
Discovery Flexicare Plus and Kaelo Health are available to employees earning a pensionable salary of less than R25 000 per month.
The income threshold has increased from R24 000 to R25 000 effective from 1 January 2026

How to change your option / scheme
Please sign in below if you want to change your option within your current medical scheme or change medical schemes within your employer preferred arrangements effective from 1 January 2026.
Please use your ID number as username and membership number as password.
Please note that option changes within your current medical scheme will be captured through this portal and implemented before the end of the year without any further requirements.
However, for all medical scheme changes, this portal will provide you with the relevant membership application form to be completed and submitted to your HR representative for processing to complete the change.
How to join gap cover
Below is the Kaelo Gap Optima brochure and membership application form for 2026.
If you would like to join Kaelo Gap effective from 1 January 2026, then please print and complete the membership application form and submit to your HR Representative for processing.
A 12 month waiting period for any pre-existing conditions will apply.
How to join primary care
If your pensionable earnings are less than R25 000 per month, then you have the option to join either Discovery Flexicare Plus or one of the Kaelo Health plans effective from 1 January 2026.
If you are eligible in terms of earnings and would like to join, then please click, print and complete the relevant application form below and return to your HR Representative for processing.
No waiting periods will apply and you will be automatically withdrawn from your current health cover option.
